Unbecoming: Why 2026 is About Purposeful Momentum

We often talk about New Year’s resolutions as additions – new habits, new goals, new hustle. But as I stand at the threshold of 2026, I realize that the power of this new year isn’t coming from what I’m adding. It’s coming from what I finally had the courage to leave behind.

If 2025 had a theme, it was “the energetic detox”. It wasn’t a year of building; it was a year of shedding. It was a rigorous, often painful process of discernment where illusions fell away, and clearing space wasn’t just a choice – it was a survival tactic.

This past year was hard. Personally and professionally, I was challenged to look at the foundations of my life and ask, “Is this real?” I had to shed the things that longer fit – the projects that drained me, the expectations that weren’t mine, and the noise that kept me from hearing my own intuition. It was a season of truth. And the gift of that struggle is that what remains after a fire is fireproof!

By stripping away this excess, I left simply with the essentials:

  • My authentic self: I am no longer performing for an audience.
  • True desires: Deep-rooted goals, not surace-level “shoulds”.
  • Resilient connections: Relationships that can withstand truth, growth, and depth.

Because of this clearing, I am entering 2026 with a brand of confidence that isn’t built on bravado, but on readiness. I’m not just “trying” anymore, I am moving. The momentum that felt stalled for so long is returning in every area of my life. But this time, it’s different. It’s purposeful momentum. It’s the result of walking in the direction that actually feels right, rather than the direction that looks right.

The Pillars of this New Year:

  • Passionate Re-engagement: I’m diving back into my work and my passions with a hunger that only comes from being aligned with my true purpose – Service.
  • Strong Self-Leadership: I am the captain of this ship. No more waiting for permission or external validation. If a door opens, it’s because I did the work to be ready to walk through it.
  • Forward Movement: There is a lightness to my step now. When you aren’t carrying the weight of things that don’t belong to you, you move much faster.

Doors are Opening:

When we stop trying to negotiate with our truth, the path clears. I see the doors opening – not by luck, but because I am finally prepared to enter them as my whole self.

2025 was the year I grounded and found my footing. 2026 is the year I run.

What are you shedding to make room for your own momentum this year?
