beyond my daily routines, there is a corner of my life that brings me pure, unexpected joy: olympic weightlifting.
what started as a pursuit of strength eventually took me to places I never anticipated. back in 2019 at the masters national championship, everything clicked. i managed to set a national record in the snatch for my age and weight category, walking away with three gold medals and a heart full of excitement. even as the world shifted during the pandemic, the barbell remained a constant (at home or at the gym). by 2022, after a lot of heart and a bit of grit, i managed to take home gold at the world masters with a world record clean & jerk.
relocating to the las vegas area in 2023 brought a season of transition. finding my groove again took time, but i eventually found my way back to the platform just in time to prepare for the 2025 masters nationals and worlds.
there is a quiet beauty in the technical nature of this sport. Moving weight from the ground to overhead demands total precision, patience, and presence. but over the years, i’ve learned that the peaks and valleys of intense training teach you lessons far beyond physical strength. if you don’t listen to your body – and care for your mind and spirit alongside it – it’s easy to burn out.
that realization has brought me to where i am today. 2026 is my year of rest. i’m stepping away from the competition platform to listen, recharge, and honor the recovery my body needs.
